I have used PLAUD to keep more of my attention on the conversation during meetings. For me, the professional value starts after the recording: treating transcription, source checking, structuring and follow-through as deliberate, separate steps.
Not one tool, but a controlled information chain
PLAUD can turn audio into a transcript and summary. Claude can restructure checked text. Neither determines what counts as an executive decision. That judgement remains with me and the people involved.
1. Beforehand: consent and the data route
I agree recording in advance and check which environment the organisation permits. I also determine whether the transcript may be processed in a second tool. Consent to record is not automatically consent to upload information elsewhere.
2. Capture: listening without losing sight of the source
The recording gives me room to listen more closely to arguments, interests and nuance. Afterwards, I use the transcript as source material, not as definitive truth. When in doubt, I listen back.
3. Source checking before restructuring
I verify names, dates, amounts, commitments and passages where proposals and decisions sit close together. Only when the content is sufficiently reliable do I use Claude to organise the information.
4. From text to manageable follow-through
I separate decisions, actions, open questions and risks. Every action needs an owner and deadline; missing information remains visible as ‘to be confirmed’. The structure must not hide uncertainty.
Create four separate overviews: explicit decisions, actions with owner and deadline, open questions, and identified risks/dependencies. Use only the checked text. Do not fill gaps; mark missing information as ‘to be confirmed’.
5. Human confirmation closes the cycle
An overview becomes useful only when those involved recognise what was agreed. I compare the output with my own notes, confirm uncertainties and ensure actions enter the team’s existing workflow.
Meeting information may be confidential or personal. I use only accounts and processing routes approved by the organisation and clarify access and retention in advance.
